"OPTION A" Medical Coverage
As with all medical endorsements, the medical premium is fully earned (no medical premium can be refunded). Available in addition to mortality coverage for horses 30 days through 14 years of age; minimum mortality premium is $250 / yr. Vet cert required for horses insured over $25,000.

Notice of any accident, injury, illness, or disease must be made to the company whether or not the insured intends to claim medical benefits, and any charges for any treatment rendered more than 30 days PRIOR to notifying the company of the condition will not be covered. Any treatment or diagnostic procedures for non-surgical and/or non life-threatening lameness incurred after six months from the onset of the condition or coverage expiration will not be considered under coverage.

$7,500 Major Medical - $275 premium, $500 per incident deductible

  • Medical payment will be the lesser of $7500 or the horse's insured value.
  • Diagnostics are limited to $1,000 per occurrence for any lameness condition. Synovial fluid replacers (joint injections) whether or not used in conjunction with other treatments are excluded.
  • Unlike most medical endorsements, this coverage will pay for dental problems, therapeutic shoeing & neurectomies
  • NOT COVERED: Any previously existing condition, performance enhancing treatments or alternative medicine procedures, elective surgery, joint fluid replacement therapy, or developmental problems (i.e. OCD or congenital defects).
  • Premium is $275 a year, with a $500 per incident deductible. After a medical claim occurs, no premium is refundable on any portion of the policy

$10,000 Major Medical - $500 Premium, $500 per incident deductible

  • Available only to horses insured for a minimum of $50,000.
  • Lameness diagnostics limit does not apply.
  • Where intra-articular injections (joint injections) are prescribed in treatment for a trauma injury, the first three injections will be considered under coverage.
  • Premium is $500 a year, with a $500 per incident deductible. After a medical claim occurs, no premium is refundable on any portion of the policy

*Unlike most companies medical coverages, Option A medical coverage can be extended worldwide (to approved countries) for a moderate additional premium and will pay medical losses outside the U.S. for horses that will be overseas fewer than six months.
